Eliza Ohara | ActorCV

My names is Eliza Ohara, Ever since I was a child, I have loved going to the theatre. I have always dreamed of being on stage and making that dream a reality. I applied for a performing arts course at Beverley College because musical theatre has always been my passion. The musical theatre and drama courses interest me because they provide the skills and knowledge needed in specific areas, and I am eager to learn. I see these courses as a challenge that will help me develop new skills and achieve the next steps toward my career in musical theatre or drama. This subject excites me because of my passion and creativity; it will push me to think more creatively. I believe I am well-suited for these courses because I am driven and enthusiastic about learning from my peers, and my passion for this subject motivates me to expand my knowledge. In my past college musicals, I played the main role of Blousy Brown in "Bugsy Malone," Cosette in "Les Misérables," and Charlie Bucket in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." From these experiences, I gained valuable knowledge in character development, emotional expression, and script analysis. Additionally, I am skilled in jazz, disco, and contemporary dance, which further supports my background in musical theatre. My involvement in school leadership, as head girl and a member of the school council, taught me responsibility and how to work toward improving the school environment. I consider myself a creative thinker who explores unconventional solutions for various projects. My curiosity drives me to seek knowledge and experiences beyond the classroom, such as taking private singing lessons and participating in musical theatre groups for additional experience. I have also worked part-time as a junior hairdresser in a hair studio for seven months, where I built confidence and learned valuable skills that contributed to my character development, teamwork, and patience. My experience as a customer care assistant at McDonald's for nine months taught me how to interact effectively with this customers, further enhancing my patience and depth of understanding. In addition, I completed work experience at Kingsway Primary School in Goole, supervising children aged 6 and 7. This role helped me develop creativity, feedback, research skills, and emotional understanding. I also learned sign language in Year 7, which I believe will help me connect with deaf audience members during performances, allowing them to follow the story and engage with the characters and songs on stage. Furthermore, I know how to direct and act for the camera. Through my TV and film projects, I have learned about camera angles, lighting, sound, background, and set design. I directed a scene for first-year Level 3 students in "Decent into Madness," which enhanced my teamwork skills and ability to communicate my vision for the scene.
