Kayla Jean
Kayla Jean is a Cedar Rapids-based performer with a versatile background in theatre. They hold a Bachelor of Arts in Drama from the University of California, Irvine, and an Associate Degree in Theatre Arts from San Joaquin Delta College. Kayla’s training is further bolstered by intensive programs, including the Trentino Music Festival in Italy and the Musical Theatre on Film Intensive at the Art of Acting Studio LA. On stage, Kayla has demonstrated a wide range of character work, from classical leads to contemporary musical roles. Notable credits include Roxane in 'Cyrano De Bergerac', Joan in 'Fun Home', and Georg in 'Spring Awakening'. They are a frequent collaborator with Theatre Cedar Rapids, appearing in productions such as 'Guys and Dolls', 'Frozen', and 'The Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed: The Rock Experience'. Kayla also served as the Dance Captain and while playing Anybodys in 'West Side Story' at the Tillie Lewis Theatre in Stockton, CA. Beyond their acting and vocal work, Kayla brings a disciplined physical presence to their performances. They are an advanced practitioner of Taekwondo and possess intermediate skills in stage combat. Whether taking on a solo dramatic role or contributing to a dance ensemble, Kayla Jean combines rigorous academic training with a dynamic, multifaceted approach to storytelling.
