Marianne Ferrari
“Where we are is who we are”. “Never forget where you come from.” Marianne is a Bronx-born, proud native New Yorker. Her Italian immigrant parents set sail aboard the Andrea Doria, met and fell deeply in love on that glorious ship. They pulled into New York Harbor a year to the day before it sank! Il Destino! What a theme for a romcom, right? Like so many, they left their WW II-torn Italy to pursue a dream of a better life in America. With the help of their family and friends, their impossible dream came true. The destiny of their journey and all that came with it shaped Marianne as an artist in every way. She dreamed her own impossible dream up on Tar Beach, her Bronx rooftop. The sights, sounds, smells - the entire colorful cast of characters of her Bronx neighborhood set the stage for Marianne’s passion for storytelling - a life in Theatre, Film and TV. Marianne has appeared in over sixty theatrical productions on stage in New York, Los Angeles and regionally including three seasons at the Williamstown Theatre Festival as well as the Edinburgh Festival, U.K. Some highlights are: Angie in Breaking Legs at the Pasadena Playhouse, Annette in God of Carnage at Theater By The Sea, Lucille in the American Clock with Arthur Miller in residence at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, Dockdaisy in the Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui also at Williamstown, Janet in Italian-American Reconciliation at the Zephyr Theatre, Mrs. Cheveley in An Ideal Husband at the Met Theatre, Marta in Company at the Little Theater, Off Broadway to name a few. She tells the story of her Bronx coming of age in her solo play, Guido Girl Ascending, iterations of which, have been workshopped in New York and Los Angeles and its newest iteration due out Off Broadway in 2026. She is currently adapting Guido Girl Ascending for the screen. On TV, she guest starred on FBI Most Wanted, Elementary, Younger to name a few. On FILM, she appeared in Alan Taylor/David Chase’s The Many Saints of Newark and a number of indie films. She’ll be featured in the soon to be released Paper Tiger directed by James Gray playing opposite Scarlett Johannson. Fun Fact: Marianne has blood relatives on four continents - North America, South America, Europe and Australia.
