Mayurakshi Sen is an actor and theatre and performance studies researcher based in Kolkata, India. Associated with the Theatre and Performance program of the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, her research interest lies in the social, political, cultural, and economic dimensions of integrating India’s classical, regional, and folk performance forms in the contemporary urban public theatres of India. In terms of acting, she has had several years of experience performing in Bengali, English, and Hindi theatre (Urubhangam directed by Manish Mitra, 2021-; It Happened In Khatija’s Village directed by Sumit Lai Roy, 2023; Marco Millions directed by Bess Rowen and Claire Moodey, 2016). She is a trained singer and voice actor. She has also acted in multiple festival short films for renowned institutions such as the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (Ilsheguri directed by Chandrasish Ray, 2025; Ek Kerani O Prithibi directed by Sharanya Dey, 2023), OTT web-series streaming in reputed regional channels such as Hoichoi (Rajneeti directed by Sourav Chakraborty, 2023), television mega-serials broadcast in leading regional networks such as Zee Bangla (Puber Moyna directed by Dipankar Dey, 2024-; Mithijhora directed by Joydip Karmakar, 2025), and regional as well as national advertisement films (EventCall’s wedding planning campaign film directed by Siddharth Mohanty, 2024; Tata Tiscon’s Remembering Nation Builders directed by Aditya Vikram Sengupta, 2018). AK Srikanth’s A Song for Eresha is her first foray in a feature-length film. As an actor, Mayurakshi strives to find the truth of every moment lived by each character she finds herself playing.
