Richard E Harris

Richard E Harris

Richard E. Harris is an accomplished actor, musician, songwriter, and music producer based in the Midwest, sharing his time between St. Louis, Columbia, and Kansas City, Missouri. A proud member of the Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and the Actors’ Equity Association, Richard recently performed in Arrow Rock Lyceum's annual production of A Christmas Carol, and performed as Leonato in Much Ado About Nothing with Greenhouse Theatre Project in Columbia, MO. He was also recently in productions at the Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre for Grumpy Old Men and Arsenic and Old Lace. Originally raised in Fort Worth, Texas, Richard’s artistic journey was profoundly shaped by his early exposure to both vibrant Black theater and the rich musical landscape of his community. His stage credits include Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (Toledo) and Fences (Troy), at Columbia's CEC Theatre, and Coconut Cake (Eddie) at The St. Louis Black Rep, featured as part of the International Black Theatre Festival’s Sylvia Sprinkle-Hamlin Rolling Premiere Award. His previous Lyceum Theatre appearances include Elvis the Musical and A Christmas Carol. Beyond the stage, Richard has an extensive career in music, having collaborated with Grammy-winning songwriter Diane Warren, and served as co-producer and recording engineer with Vassal Benford at Vaz Entertainment/Motown Records, contributing to projects with icons like Toni Braxton, Bell Biv DeVoe, Surface, and Jade. His creative skills extend to sound design, composing for theatre, and post-production sound for film and television. A proud alumnus of Howard University and Cedar Valley College, Richard’s artistry is informed by his roots and inspired by the legacy of his grandmother, Dr. Opal Lee, the Grandmother of Juneteenth. With a career grounded in passion, rhythm, and storytelling, Richard continues to inspire audiences with his authentic performances and creative versatility.
