Steve Hopkinson
Lately I’ve been wondering why life is so unpredictable. I once asked someone where they wanted to be 5 years from now. She said, “I just want to be happy”. I wasn't satisfied with that answer. "To be happy is not a goal" I said. As years of my life have gone by, I’ve come to realize, all I want, is to be happy. Its when I’m living in the moment I bring my light to the world. I’ve learned a lot about love and how it’s different for men and women and yet, I still have unfulfilled romantic ideals. "Bring value today, be valuable tomorrow" I have often said. I struggle through weakness, vulnerability, boredom, and non-conformity to find my creativity and imagination, through which I make things happen. The truth is uncomfortable, offensive and yet liberating. And it puts me at risk of becoming a misfit. I once heard a famous man say “Break the rules, not the law, break the rules”. The dark side is always looming. The fear of being alone, unwanted, unloved. Control your controllables right? Strive to become more physically and emotionally attractive for your art. I was once asked by an elder "Steve, do you know what passion is?” It means "to suffer" in Latin. He then asked me “What is your passion the thing you are willing to suffer for? I resisted the idea of acting for many years believing it was a frivolous endeavor. And then one day about 2 years ago a video showed up in my feed. By the time it was finished I had completely changed my mind about acting. I finally made the much less frivolous connection between personal development and acting that allows me to be more transformative and I love the process! The only problem is I still haven't figured out why life is so unpredictable.
