Sue Ann Staake
FROM DIRECTING STORIES TO LIVING THEM Sue Ann is a National Emmy®Award-winning television producer/director turned actor whose career spans decades of network and freelance broadcast storytelling in news and documentary television. After directing high-pressure live coverage and shaping stories behind the camera, she transitioned into acting, bringing an instinctive understanding of human behavior, stakes, and emotional truth to her performances. On stage, she is drawn to richly layered, character-driven roles that blend authority, warmth, wit, and humor, with recent performances including Lady Markby in An Ideal Husband, M’Lynn in Steel Magnolias, and Mrs. Higgins in My Fair Lady. She is known for her strong preparation, collaborative presence, and grounded, emotionally intelligent approach to text. After five moves in a dozen years, she returned to her home state of Maryland where she resides with her husband of twenty-two years, a 3 year-old chihuahua mix and two senior cats.
